Sri Lanka, a small island country in Asia with a big personality. Rich in cultural heritage and geographical location, Sri Lanka is a rapidly growing tourist destination. The island is home to many cultures, languages and ethnicities and has a history dating back 2000+ years. Despite its small size, Sri Lanka possesses a high level of biodiversity and wildlife. This being said, due to indiscriminate exploitation many wildlife species, including elephants, leopards, bears, buffalo are rapidly depleting. Whilst volunteering abroad in Sri Lanka you will have the opportunity to aid and support programs of abused and orphaned elephants. A unique and incredible experience that will undeniably make you appreciate that beauty and strength this planet give us. Like many other developing nations, Sri Lanka has had a troubled history. The majority of its people are poor, live in rural areas, and depend on agriculture for their livelihood. These factors do not however impact the generosity and kindness the local people share with visitors. Volunteers in Sri Lanka will engage in positive cultural exchange experiences as well as share valuable life skills and teach English. As a volunteer, you will bring love and supply fuel to these programs.
